ASHGABAT, October 2. / TASS /. The use of Russian coronavirus vaccines in Turkmenistan enables the Central Asian Republic to successfully fight the pandemic, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in an exclusive interview with TASS first deputy general manager Mikhail Gusman.

“Turkmenistan has become one of the first countries in the world to officially approve the use of Russian vaccines Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona on its territory. And in many ways, this is what has enabled us to successfully counter the pandemic of coronavirus infection, ”he said.

The President of Turkmenistan noted that the interaction of the two countries in the fight against the pandemic has acquired particular importance. “Since the very beginning of the pandemic, within a short time, effective bilateral mechanisms have been put in place between Turkmenistan and Russia along with the research and medical communities, relevant ministries and agencies. It would not be an exaggeration to say that in these complex conditions, our countries have shown excellent examples of genuine solidarity, of mutual aid and support, of effective union of efforts, ”he said. , emphasizing precisely this nature of cooperation, I rightly highlight the special role of Russia and express my gratitude to its leaders, ”the President added.

He said the vaccination campaign in Turkmenia is proceeding as planned and as needed, encompassing the whole country. According to the president, the health system and the health services operate in a coordinated manner by taking all the necessary preventive measures.

At the same time, he noted that there are “still some restrictions on entry into Turkmenistan, in particular, with air service to other countries”. “We are closely monitoring the situation in the world, in neighboring countries, and will act accordingly. Overall, I can say that Turkmenistan has succeeded in effectively building defense mechanisms against this dangerous infectious disease,” added the Minister. President.

According to data released by the WHO, Turkmenistan has not documented any cases of coronavirus infection.
