Birendra Lakra Murder Case Details
According to the report, a complaint was filed by the father of the deceased, Bandhana Tappo, at the Infocity police station. The report says Birendra Lakra, his girlfriend Manjit Tete and Anand were living together in an apartment below the Infocity police boundary. They had an argument over Manjit after which Lakra and Manjit killed Anand on February 28.
The late father in his statement said: “It would be difficult for a father to bear the death of his newly married son. After an argument, Birendra and Manjit tied Anand’s hands before strangling him to death in the apartment and calling it a suicide.”
He added, “Anand returned to Bhubaneswar after getting married. The trio (Birendra, Anand and Manjit) led a happy life. On February 28, Birendra called me to tell me that Anand had committed suicide. When our family members arrived there, Birendra showed her ignorance about it. From the prima facie evidence, it was clear that Anand had been murdered. Feeling Birendra’s hand behind Anand’s death, we went to file a complaint with the Infocity police. However, the police did not receive our complaint. Even after four months, the police failed to find out the exact cause of Anand’s death. “If Anand had committed suicide, the police would have established the reason for Anand’s suicide. The police should clarify the reason for the delay in the investigation,”
