The United Club℠ Infinite Card (valuation) is the highest-end credit card in the Chase and United Airlines co-brand portfolio. The card has an annual fee of $ 525, but also offers the biggest perks, including United Club membership, along with all kinds of other travel benefits.
Very positive changes are coming to the map, as several new perks are added. Best of all, this happens without anything being taken away, and there is also no increase in annual fees. In no particular order, let’s review what’s added to the map.
10% reduction on economy award tickets
Effective today, the United Club Infinite Card offers a 10% discount on economy-level rewards for travel within the continental United States and Canada. These reduced prices will be automatically reflected when the primary cardholder logs into their MileagePlus account.
It’s pretty impressive to see the concept of discounted rewards being rolled out as a perk on a United Airlines credit card, although it is true that there are significant restrictions associated with it.
10,000 miles to sign up for CLEAR
United Club Infinite Card holders can receive 10,000 bonus MileagePlus miles if they register with CLEAR before June 30, 2022, using their card. For those who do not know CLEAR, it helps speed up the security screening process at certain airports.
If you’re a MileagePlus member, CLEAR should cost you $ 119 to sign up, and I would say the 10,000 miles are worth at least that much. It’s pretty awesome. For those with a lot of credit cards, the catch is that the American Express Platinum Card® (review) offers an annual CLEAR credit of up to $ 179, so it might not be very useful for everybody.
Free companion upgrades on award tickets
United Club Infinite Card holders who also have Elite status in the MileagePlus program have already received free upgrades on award tickets, when traveling on qualifying flights. Now the card adds another benefit in this sense, as companions traveling with the same reservations on award tickets will also be eligible for upgrades.
IHG Platinum status, IHG credit of $ 75
From 2022, the United Club Infinite card will offer IHG Rewards Platinum status to the primary cardholder. This is IHG’s Intermediate Elite Status, which is also offered as an IHG perk® Rewards Club Premier credit card (exam). It’s better than nothing if you stay at IHG properties anyway, but don’t get too excited about the value of that status.
On top of that, United Club Infinite card holders will get a $ 75 credit for IHG properties billed to the card between January 1 and December 31, 2022. This is potentially the most valuable benefit here, as this equates to $ 75 of “free”. ”Spending in IHG properties.
More Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) for spending
The possibilities of obtaining United Airlines status by spending by credit card are not exactly great. The opportunities related to this will improve on the United Club Infinite Card from 2022.
United Club Infinite Card members will be able to earn up to 4,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) per calendar year. Specifically, you will be able to earn 500 PQP for every $ 12,000 spent on the card. In other words, you would be maximizing that after spending $ 96,000.
For comparison, you can currently only earn 3,000 PQP per year with the card. I still think there are better cards for spending, but for some it might offer an alternate method for status qualification.
At the end of the line
The United Club℠ Infinite Card has just added several new perks that cardholders should appreciate, especially since nothing is being taken away from them. While I don’t think there’s anything here that is a complete game-changer for the most part, they are nice incremental perks.
From national economy rewards reduction, $ 75 IHG credit and IHG Platinum status, 10,000 miles to join CLEAR, to companion upgrades on award tickets for Elite members, there is something for (almost) everyone.
What do you think of these new United Club Infinite Card benefits?
